Now starting. Drug-Eluting Stent Controlled Trial Project

Today, two kinds of drug-eluting stents are available in Japan. Many studies and analyses have been conducted to examine the effects of these stents, but study designs and sample numbers varied widely. Additionally, with the rising number of diabetic patients in Japan, interest in the efficacy of drug-eluting stents to treat diabetic subjects is high. To this end, the Japan-Drug Stents Evaluation; a Randomized Trial (J-DESsERT) will provide clear-cut answers to this important issue. J-DESsERT is a large-scale randomized controlled trial (RCT) of 3500 patients, half of whom will have diabetes mellitus. More than 100 institutions have already registered to participate in this trial.

J-DESsERT trial.
